Program Equipment Technician-Emergency Services (part-time/884 hours/year) @ Northwood Tech Ashland or Superior Campus

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a part-time Program Equipment Technician - Emergency Services at the Ashland or Superior Campus

 

This position will serve in an equipment technician role primarily in the Emergency Services programs across the region. The technician position provides support for the delivery of Emergency Services coursework in EMS. The technician will be supervised by the EMS Manager at the campus which they are assigned to and may also take direction from other EMS managers for special projects as needed.  Additional technician duties serving other program areas may be assigned as needed.

  • Knowledge and use of all EMS equipment.
  • Ensure that all EMS equipment and training props used to deliver classes are properly maintained and repaired as directed and/or in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, DOT and WI DHS requirements.
  • Cleaning, inventorying, stocking, and repairing of equipment.
  • Update technical equipment spreadsheet as necessary and maintain assigned equipment storage areas in an organized manner.
  • Daily check of the 14-day list to ensure equipment is delivered in a timely manner for upcoming classes.
  • Working with EMS manager when new classes are scheduled to ensure knowledge of upcoming classes.
  • Pre-delivery or staging of equipment and support materials to class locations across the district. Organized planning for return of equipment and materials back to proper storage location or next class site. This will be done utilizing vans and pick-up trucks, sometimes towing large trailers.
  • Assist EMS Managers with ordering supplies and materials, maintenance of equipment, and upkeep of physical environment.
  • Assist with the maintenance of other program equipment as needed.
  • During delivery and pickup of equipment, proper appearance and relationships will be maintained according to Northwood Tech dress code and policies.
  • Transport and parking of college-owned trailers as required for off location classes
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

  • Associate’s degree (or two years post-secondary education) in related field or *equivalent
  • Two years related work experience

*Equivalent educational/occupational experience may be a high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively apply technology to tasks and projects
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining positivity and professionalism
  • Strong customer service skills that focus on creative problem solving
  • Time management skills that apply organization and prioritization demonstrating the ability to multitask and work independently
  • Ability to obtain driver’s license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy

Preferred:

  • Possess a current CDL driver’s license
  • Experience connecting, backing up, parking and hauling trailers

 

Salary

FY26 Salary - Grade H - $21.31 / hour
