The City of Appleton is seeking a Crime Analyst. The Crime Analyst is a full-time non-sworn, non-supervisory position, under the direction of the Captain of Investigative Services Unit (ISU) and receives strategic direction from the Chief of Police. The key responsibility of the Crime Analyst is to acquire, analyze, prepare and disseminate information related to crimes and incidents that are relevant to Appleton Police, including but not limited to calls for service, crime patterns and trends, workload distribution, officer availability and hotspot locations. The work of the analyst is intended to increase the effectiveness of police services, prevent crime and disorder, and assist in the apprehension of suspects. The analyst serves in an advisory capacity to the organization by providing professional analysis and suggests appropriate responses to crime, disorder, and department deficiencies.
Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in statistics, sociology, criminal justice, public administration or related field concentrating on statistics and research methods, working knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and investigative techniques, or a combination of applicable experience and training.
Salary
The starting salary for this position is $29.12 hourly with the ability to earn up to $40.77 hourly, plus an excellent fringe benefit package including paid time off, health, life, dental, and Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The WRS is among the best funded and best managed public pension systems in the country. Employees, spouses, and dependents over the age of 12 months who are covered on the City’s medical plan are eligible to use the Connecting Care Clinic (CCC). The CCC provides primary and acute care services and physical therapy at no cost to the patient.
